The Big Mama Up Chair and ottoman set is a contemporary reinterpretation of Gaetano Pesce’s iconic Italian design for B&B Italia, manufactured around 2000. This ensemble stands out for its monumental, sculptural expression: a bulbous armchair with exaggerated proportions and a spherical ottoman form an organic duo. The upholstery is a pale, cool, powdery blue—matte and smooth, embracing each surface without gloss, pile, or prominent texture, with discreet, flat seams dividing the textile panels. The construction is devoid of visible legs, hardware, or wood—both elements rest directly on the floor, intensifying the sense of a soft, sculpted whole. The chair has a deep, gently rounded seat paired with wide, comfortable arms and backrest, inviting a relaxed, unconventional way of lounging; the ottoman’s near-perfect spherical shape emphasizes the anthropomorphic references, inspired by archetypal feminine forms. Both pieces have undergone full restoration, leaving the set visibly refreshed without signs of wear or discoloration.
