ABOUT PRODUCTID 2803
This pair of Etna pendant lamps, designed by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup in the 1960s, exemplifies the essence of Danish mid-century modern lighting. Each lamp features a striking cylindrical silhouette, where a smooth, matte black band is flanked by upper and lower sections of brushed, satin-finished brass in a warm golden hue. The construction thoughtfully combines aluminum and brass, offering a tactile contrast between subtly reflective metal and the deep, velvety black center. The proportions (24 cm high, 12 cm in diameter) enhance the sculptural, architectural presence. A black, fabric-covered cord and a new metal canopy maintain stylistic coherence. The lamps are in good vintage condition, with delicate patina on the brass as a natural trace of time, and no significant dents or deformations. The Etna lamps speak with the quiet authority of Scandinavian modernism—a narrative shaped by an era in which form followed function and aesthetics emerged from the interplay of light and material. The brass surfaces capture and reflect gentle highlights, while the matte black center anchors the composition, creating a balanced, intimate dialogue. These lamps seem to tell the story of Danish precision and a preference for restraint over ornamentation; their simplicity is a deliberate, refined choice. The Etna lamps may be suspended above a dining table or in a living area, adding rhythm to interiors styled in mid
