This walnut bookcase, designed by Johannes Sorth in Denmark in the 1970s, exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century modern in its pure, functional form. The construction features a warm, medium-dark walnut veneer with subtle reddish undertones, highlighting the wood’s natural grain. Slender, tapered solid wood legs joined by a stretcher bring lightness and stability to the piece. The tall, narrow silhouette includes two open, adjustable shelves at the top, while the middle section features tambour doors with vertical ribbing, concealing three small drawers, compartments, and an adjustable shelf. The lower cabinet, with sliding doors and circular recessed handles, offers additional storage. A pull-out surface allows the bookcase to double as a desk.
