The 'Antico' bottle vase is a design by Zbigniew Horbowy from the 1970s, produced by the Sudety Glassworks in Szczytna Śląska, Poland. Crafted from soda-lime glass in a medium, cool-toned emerald green, the piece features a semi-transparent body with a distinctive bubbled texture achieved through the 'foamed' glass technique. The silhouette is harmoniously proportioned, with a wide, rounded base transitioning into a long, slender neck and a subtly flared rim. The base is slightly thickened and accented by a darker green ring, providing both visual depth and stability. The glossy, reflective surface captures and plays with light, reflecting the expressive yet minimalist style characteristic of Polish mid-century modern glass. The vase is preserved in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or signs of restoration or heavy use. This vase speaks with the voice of the 1970s, when Polish studio glass was exploring new territory between craftsmanship and contemporary design. The emerald, foamed glass tells a story of material experimentation, hallmark of Horbowy's work, and each air bubble within the mass becomes a subtle trace of the artist’s gesture. The form feels like a suspended drop of light, recalling the creative spirit of an era that valued purity of line and expressive surface. The vase can be displayed solo on an oak console or low shelf, where daylight will enhance the interplay of bubbles and green reflections.
