ABOUT PRODUCTID 36800
This decorative bowl, created by the Ząbkowice Glassworks in Poland in the 1920s, is crafted from clear pressed glass with a cool, neutral tone and medium transparency. Its wide, shallow shape, measuring 23 cm in diameter and 7 cm in height, is defined by a substantial, faceted rim that brings a geometric, architectural rhythm typical of early Art Deco design. The central medallion is adorned with a satin-matte relief portraying Diana, the mythological huntress, accompanied by a stag in a stylized forest scene. This relief contrasts with the glossy, polished finish of the rest of the bowl. The piece is formed from a single pressed-glass mold with no visible seams or joints, and the glass surface is smooth and clear, free from chips, cracks, or signs of wear. Condition: very good, with no damage or visible traces of use.The depiction of Diana evokes the spirit of the 1920s, an era when mythological motifs infused everyday objects with narrative depth. In this bowl, the geometric discipline of Art Deco meets the organic, flowing lines reminiscent of late Art Nouveau—inviting the glass to tell its own enduring story. The interplay of matte and glossy surfaces, the sculpted light and shadow of the relief, and the clarity of the glass all recall a period when classical symbolism merged with the emerging modernism of the interwar years, turning utilitarian vessels into vessels of visual storytelling. The bowl may serve as a centerpiece on a dining or living room table, functioning both as a decorative object and as a vessel for fruit or snacks. It pairs well with mirrors in geometric frames, black-and-gold accessories, or porcelain in subdued tones. For a cohesive collector’s composition, it can be combined with other Polish glassware from the era, fitting seamlessly into Art Deco-inspired or classically furnished interiors.
