ABOUT PRODUCTID 4645
This bowl, crafted in the 1930s by Barovier & Toso and designed by Ercole Barovier, exemplifies the finest Murano tradition: hand-formed glass with embedded gold dust, ground flat at the base. The glass presents a deep, cool-toned emerald green, with evenly dispersed gold flecks that create a shimmering, almost weightless effect throughout. Its biomorphic, organic form features softly undulating, asymmetric edges and a compact, rounded body, referencing both Art Deco and early modernist aesthetics. The thick, glossy glass has a smooth texture and visible air bubbles (bullicante technique), showcasing Venetian craftsmanship. The carefully ground base reflects meticulous finishing. The condition is excellent, with no visible damage or restoration, only minimal age-appropriate wear. This piece conveys the spirit of 1930s Italian modernism: light dances across the gold particles, casting subtle, shifting reflections. The green recalls the Murano lagoon, while asymmetric lines evoke the freedom of artisanal experimentation. The bowl seems to whisper of an era when craftsmanship and technical innovation coexisted, and material daring was as important as precision. The bowl may be displayed solo on a console or low table in a living room—particularly striking against light marble, dark wood, or refined plaster. It can be paired with other period glass objects or contemporary ceramics with simple lines to emphasize its color depth and textural richness. It suits both Art Deco interiors and eclectic collector’s spaces. Dimensions: height 4.3 cm, diameter 11.5 cm. Material: hand-formed glass with embedded gold dust, bullicante technique, flat ground base. The glass is
