This centrepiece bowl, designed by Josef Hospodka for the Czech glassworks Chribska in the 1960s, embodies the modernist approach to utilitarian glass. Hand-blown from soda glass, it combines a clear, transparent body with a vivid cobalt blue accent along the rim, which gradually transitions into the uncoloured glass. The wide, shallow dish rests on three elegantly curved, clear glass legs seamlessly merging with the body, lending the piece a sense of visual lightness and stability. The bowl’s organic, asymmetrical lines reflect the mid-century modern fascination with fluid shapes and minimal ornamentation. The surface is smooth and highly polished, free from texture or signs of wear; the underside is professionally ground and polished.
