This fruit platter, produced by Strehla Keramik in East Germany at the turn of the 1960s and 70s, is made from glazed stoneware using hand-painted decoration techniques. The design reflects the era’s modernist spirit, with vertical, slightly irregular stripes in turquoise, green, and yellow, each marked by distinct brushstrokes and outlined by thin black lines that create a rhythmic geometric pattern. The off-white ceramic base peeks through between the colorful bands, lending an impression of lightness and contrast. The semi-gloss glaze deepens the colors and gives the surface a subtle shine, while the softly undulating rim and gently asymmetric form underscore the handcrafted, organic character.
