ABOUT PRODUCTID 16834
This decorative Tutti Frutti Murano bowl from the 1950s was created by Arte Vetraria Muranese, a glassworks renowned for its unique mosaic techniques. The vessel is hand-shaped from multicolored, internally tinted glass, with transparent aquamarine interwoven with accents of amber, gold, green, and light brown. The richness of tones forms a lively, organic pattern of irregular flecks and dots diffused through the glass mass, while the deeply ruffled, sculptural rim gives the piece a flower- or sea-inspired silhouette. The bowl stands on a small, finely polished foot; its surface is glossily smooth both inside and out, featuring visible bubbles – signatures of authentic studio glasswork. The overall clarity of the glass highlights depth and vibrant coloration. The condition is very good, with no visible scratches, chips, or traces of restoration.
In this piece, the voice of mid-century Italian modernism resonates—a time when Murano glass became synonymous with experimentation in light and color. The expressive, undulating rim and swirling, saturated hues recall the vigor of the modernist avant-garde, while the fluid, irregular form narrates the spontaneity of Venetian island artistry. Each streak of color and tiny bubble captures the light, offering an illusion of perpetual movement—as if the bowl preserves the impression of Italian sunlight and the winds of the Adriatic within its contours.
