ABOUT PRODUCTID 19409
This 'bowling pin' vase, produced in the 1970s by HSG Ząbkowice in Poland, is made of pressed Rosalin glass and represents a notable example of Eastern European mid-century modern. The elongated, cylindrical outline is articulated with a series of regular horizontal rings wrapping the body, while the delicate pale pink tone, combined with transparency and an even glossy finish, highlights the minimalist spirit of the era. There are no handles or adornments—precisely modeled ribs create a geometric rhythm that enhances the subtle decorative value. The gently flared base gives stability to the strongly vertical proportions. The surface is smooth and clear throughout, with no chips, cracks, or substantial flaws; only minute traces of natural aging typical of vintage pressed glass are visible. The vase is in very good condition, without significant damage.Immersed in the atmosphere of the 1970s, this vase evokes the interiors of Polish homes where light filtered through pastel glass, creating a sense of lightness. The repetitive rhythm of the rings suggests the poetic simplicity and inventiveness of everyday life in the period. Its glossy surface reflects echoes of gatherings and quiet conversations, conveying the modernist restraint that defined design intentions of the time. The vase can be paired with low sideboards in light wood or minimalist glass cabinets, especially against calm, pastel-colored walls. It finds its place in collector’s mid-century modern arrangements as well as serving as a point of contrast in more contemporary or eclectic interiors. It works well next to plain textiles or matte ceramics; displayed on its own, it reveals its sculptural structure—either with a single long-stemmed flower, or left empty to showcase the soft pastel hue and vertical silhouette.
