This miniature box, dating from around 1890, exemplifies late 19th-century Italian decorative artistry. The body is crafted from gilt brass with a matte, slightly satin finish, showing a gentle, age-appropriate patina. Its lid features a circular Millefiori micromosaic medallion, about 3 cm in diameter, depicting a dense bouquet of forget-me-nots with blue, white, and light green petals, highlighted with yellow-orange centers. The mosaic is framed by a finely executed white and grey tesserae border. Sides are richly adorned with applied filigree—rosettes and scalloped arches—that impart a sense of lightness and neoclassical inspiration. The construction includes an integrated, discreet hinge and a front snap clasp. The box measures 5.4 x 5.4 x 2.6 cm. The brass surface reveals minor abrasions and oxidation, consistent with authentic age, but no signs of modern restoration.
