ABOUT PRODUCTID 4330
This short table fork for serving bread, crafted by WMF in Germany between 1890 and 1900, exemplifies late 19th-century craftsmanship in the Rococo Revival style. Made of white metal, silver-plated, it displays a cool, slightly matte silver tone with subtle patina that hints at its age. The handle features elaborate scrollwork, botanical motifs, and a symmetrical, arched shape with ornamental finials, all executed with the refined detail characteristic of the era. The transition from the handle to the working end is marked by a baluster-shaped node, while the fork itself has three wide, curved tines with pointed tips and a hand-engraved foliate pattern. The construction is robust and seamless, with the WMF maker’s mark visible on the reverse, and there are no visible damages or repairs. The condition is very good, with only minor traces of use and a well-preserved silver plating. This piece speaks of an age when the act of serving bread was elevated to an art, every gesture framed by the ceremony of the table. The Rococo Revival details of the handle and the engraved ornament tell a story of late 19th-century refinement and an appreciation for decorative craft. The fork seems to whisper tales of parlors where candlelight reflected on silver surfaces, and every piece played its part in the ritual of hospitality. The fork may be paired with other silver-plated cutlery or porcelain from the same period, creating a cohesive, collector's table arrangement. It would suit a formally set table in a classic or eclectic interior, where historic details meet contemporary accents
