ABOUT PRODUCTID 16617
The June breakfast set, designed by Wincenty Potacki in 1962 for the Ćmielów Porcelain Works, is a three-piece ensemble comprising a cup with a subtly cylindrical form (diameter 7.5 cm, height 7.5 cm, length 10 cm), a saucer (diameter 15 cm), and a dessert plate (diameter 17 cm). The perfectly smooth, glossy porcelain is finished in a deep, lustrous black, contrasted by wide, gently undulating white bands reminiscent of stylized ribbons. A delicate, overglaze gold outline and gilded rims on all elements, as well as the entirely gold interior of the cup, underscore the attention to detail typical of Poland’s finest mid-century modern porcelain. The precisely shaped handle with a golden accent and softly rounded edges add to the design’s lightness and functionality, while the broad surfaces of the saucer and plate provide comfort in use. There are no signs of wear, damage, or intervention – the set is preserved in excellent condition. This porcelain set carries the spirit of the 1960s, when Polish modernism sought its own identity – the elegance of simple forms is here balanced by gold accents that invoke tradition, yet presented with modern restraint. The interplay of black and white, the rhythmic sweep of waves, and the gleam of gold evoke the mood of a quiet morning coffee, where routine is elevated to ritual. The set seems to tell its own story – of urban sophistication, a spirit of experiment, and the way skilled craftsmanship enhances moments of daily ceremony. June would suit a mid-century modern table arrangement
