This antique business card case from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries exemplifies Italian leatherworking and silversmithing, originating from Vercelli—a renowned Piedmontese center for luxury accessories. The case has a slender, rectangular form (13 × 6.3 cm) with softly rounded corners and is crafted from finely tanned, natural brown leather with a semi-matte finish. The interior is lined with silk, offering two flat pockets for cards. Its most striking feature is the large, gently raised silver plaque on the front—signed by the Vercelli manufactory—embellished with a three-dimensional repoussé motif of poppies in various stages of bloom. The botanical relief, with its flowing Art Nouveau (Stile Liberty) lines, highlights the artistic spirit of the piece.
