ABOUT PRODUCTID 2291
The 'Asteroid' cabaret dish is a distinctive platter from the 1960s, designed by Jan Sylwester Drost for the HSG Ząbkowice glassworks in Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland. Crafted from pressed soda-lime glass with a cool, neutral tone, it features a minimalist form accentuated by a dense, regular pattern of raised, rounded droplets across its entire surface. The rim is smooth and subtly undulating, softening the geometric composition, while three integrated, ribbed glass feet gently elevate the dish and provide stability. The matte finish with glossy highlights on the raised elements enhances the interplay of light and shadow. The dish measures 25 cm in diameter and 2.6 cm in height. Condition: excellent, with no damage or chips. The form of the 'Asteroid' speaks in the language of 1960s Polish modernism—a time when functionality merged seamlessly with artistic expression in everyday objects. The dewdrop-like or asteroid-inspired pattern brings a subtle rhythm of light and texture to the interior. Though the glass may appear cool, it reveals the finesse and precision of skilled craftsmanship, while the gentle elevation on its feet lends an impression of lightness, as if the dish floats above the table. This cabaret dish can serve as a centerpiece on a living room table, a display for fruit or sweets, or be paired with other mid-century glassware to create a cohesive collection. It would suit mid-century modern arrangements, but could also be combined with minimalist ceramics, metal candlesticks, or natural wood to highlight the contrast of materials and emphasize the attention to detail characteristic of the 1960s. The platter is made of pressed soda-lime glass with a matte surface and glossy raised elements. Gentle hand washing is recommended to preserve the integrity of the structure and avoid micro-scr
