ABOUT PRODUCTID 41456
This early 20th-century cabinet box exemplifies refined European craftsmanship at the crossroads of late historicism and early modernism. The well-proportioned, rectangular form is crafted from solid wood veneered with selected mahogany, combining clean lines and functionality with understated elegance. A traditional, hand-applied shellac polish reveals the warm mahogany tones, emphasizing the wood's grain and lending a subtle, mirror-like sheen to the surface. The construction features a functional lock with the original key and two secret compartments: a discreet upper cachet within the lid, secured by a sliding latch, and a concealed space beneath a double bottom—both designed for valuables or confidential papers. Decorative elements have been reduced to a minimum: there are no visible fittings or embellishments, reinforcing the box’s minimalist restraint. The condition is very good—the box retains its authenticity and full functionality, with only minor traces of age. This box speaks with the voice of its era—a time when everyday objects and furnishings became a manifesto of modernity, yet still bore traces
