This cabinet porcelain figurine, “Chick on the Hunt,” was crafted by the Hutschenreuther manufactory in Germany circa 1950–1970. Made of high-quality glazed porcelain, it features a softly shaded pastel yellow that transitions into white at the lower body and tail, skillfully evoking the downy texture of a young bird’s plumage. The beak and feet are delicately painted in a light beige with a hint of pink, while the glossy black eyes with a subtle white highlight add lifelike expression. The compact, well-balanced form captures a naturalistic, slightly crouched pose, and seamless color gradations with precise feather modeling demonstrate the technical mastery characteristic of the period. The underside bears the Hutschenreuther signature: a lion in an ellipse with the inscription “Germany,” typical for the postwar era. The figurine is in very good condition—there are no signs of damage or restoration, with the glaze and painted details perfectly preserved.Within this miniature sculpture lies the story of German porcelain’s postwar renaissance. The figurine, freezing a fleeting moment, expresses the tension and focus of a young chick, embodying the spirit of mid-20th-century cabinet collections—marked by meticulous detail, precision, and reverence for nature. Every nuance in modeling and hue seems to whisper of
