This English cabinet inkwell from 1822 takes the form of a segmented pumpkin, crafted from clear, deeply cut crystal glass. The body is shaped into rounded, faceted lobes that echo the organic geometry of a pumpkin, with expertly polished crystal amplifying its transparency and unique refraction of light. The domed silver lid, bearing an English hallmark, is designed to mimic the fruit's ribbed structure and is finished with a gently curved stem-like handle. The precision-fitted silver band seamlessly encircles the upper glass rim, while a removable glass liner holds the ink within. The articulated naturalistic motif, paired with classical balance, reflects the English neoclassical sensibility of the 1820s and the culture of luxury writing accessories from the period.
