This ceramic cake plate, designed by Elżbieta Piwek-Białoborska in 1957 for the Włocławek Faience Factory, is an example of the Polish 'New Look' style from the late 1950s. Crafted from glazed faience, the plate features a glossy, smooth surface, and an asymmetrical, shell-like form with softly rounded edges and a gently undulating rim. The color palette consists of warm, pastel yellow with visible, hand-painted brushstrokes and a semi-transparent green radiating fan-like from the upper section. Dynamic, wavy brown lines and a single undulating line separate the yellow and green areas, introducing an organic, modernist rhythm. The plate measures 18 × 16.5 × 3.4 cm. The hand-painted lines and slight irregularities bear witness to the craftsmanship and individual approach characteristic of mid-century Polish utilitarian ceramics. The plate can be combined in arrangements with other faience pieces from the 1950s or minimalist porcelain to highlight its modernist silhouette. It would work well on a dining table in a mid-century modern setting, alongside simple wooden forms, as well as in eclectic, collector’s interiors where it emphasizes the individuality of
