These 19th-century candle wick trimmers were crafted in Warsaw by the esteemed Fraget manufactory, exemplifying mid-19th-century design. The construction features galvanic brass in a cool, silvery metallic tone with a subtly matte finish; the surface is smooth, showing gentle signs of age through minor scratches and a delicate patina. Their neoclassical or late Empire style is evident in the elegantly curved handles adorned with decorative rings and small finials, while the integrated spring mechanism—marked by a domed, ornamental rivet—ensures smooth closure, a sophisticated detail uncommon in such tools. The straight, robust blades end in a box-shaped chamber for collecting trimmed wicks, a hallmark of authentic candle snuffers from this period.
