This Belgian two-light candleholder, dating from the 1960s, is an accomplished example of mid-century modern metalwork. Its construction features gracefully bent black metal arms with a satin-matte finish, forming a mirrored silhouette with symmetrical scrolls on each side. Each arm is topped by a circular, hammered aluminum plate — its surface irregular, softly reflective and marked by visible hand tooling, lending tactile interest and a nod to industrial craft. Central pins on each plate securely accommodate pillar candles. The structure stands firmly on a rectangular, black-painted base that visually anchors the expressive scrollwork above. The proportions are balanced and deliberate, with all structural elements original and authentic. The condition is very good vintage: only minor surface marks and faint abrasions are visible on the base and aluminum, with no major losses, deformations or later interventions. The candleholder’s form echoes the optimistic spirit of the 1960s — an era in which experimentation with shape and new production methods transformed everyday objects into abstract statements.
