This antique calling card tray, crafted in Vienna between 1910 and 1920, is made of bronze and features a finely sculpted elephant head with an upraised trunk. The dominant tone is a warm, golden bronze with natural patina, ranging from yellow-gold to darker, brownish spots—evidence of age and oxidation. The tray’s surface is embossed with an irregular pattern, reminiscent of elephant skin, enriching its tactile and visual effect. The elephant’s expressive eyes, detailed wrinkles, and spread ears are rendered with remarkable realism, while the tray edges are softly beveled. A satin gloss finish appears on raised areas, contrasting with matte recesses, highlighting subtle tonal shifts in the metal.
