This Viennese calling card tray, dating from circa 1910–20, represents utilitarian art refined to the level of sculpture. The base is crafted from green onyx in a semi-translucent, yellow-green hue, displaying organic natural veining and areas of gentle color variations. The stone is shaped into a softly rounded, irregular triangle with a shallow, precisely contoured central indentation for cards. Atop the onyx sits a miniature dachshund, finely cast from patinated bronze in a warm, medium brown shade.
