This monumental Persian Meshed carpet, measuring 400 x 315 cm, represents the apex of mid-20th-century Iranian textile craftsmanship. Hand-knotted from high-quality, pure wool, it features a dense, soft, matte-finished pile. The central field is dominated by a large, intricate medallion in cream, light blue, gold, and navy, set against a saturated deep red background, framed by profuse floral and arabesque motifs. The main border is executed in deep navy, richly adorned with floral patterns in cream, gold, burgundy, and light blue, flanked by lighter, narrow guard borders and finished with traditional hand-tied fringes. The design is a harmonious display of classic Persian symmetry and order, characteristic of Meshed weaving traditions. The structure and proportions reveal the hand and vision of Iranian master weavers. This piece is preserved in very good vintage condition, with a gentle patina and natural signs of use that enhance its authenticity.
