This casket-shaped sugar bowl was crafted by J. Fraget in Warsaw between 1860 and 1883, using silver-plated brass. The rectangular form, measuring 13.5 × 10.5 × 10.5 cm, stands on four elaborately cast feet adorned with scrollwork and botanical motifs. The lid features a pronounced, raised floral and fruit relief, while the main body is encircled by repeating borders of stylized acanthus leaves and beading at both the upper and lower edges. A keyhole, framed by a symmetrical rococo-style cartouche, decorates the front. The finish is a cool, silvery tone with a matte surface and subtle highlights on the raised details. The condition is very good—no visible dents or wear, a gentle patina consistent with its age, and all decorative elements remain original and unrestored.This sugar bowl echoes the voices of Warsaw’s salons in the late 19th century, reflecting an era when tableware was both a statement of status and an object of refined detail. The coolness of the plating is warmed by the soft reliefs of leaves and fruit, while the rounded corners evoke the gentleness of daily rituals at the table.
