This mid-century ceiling lamp, produced by Axella Design in Denmark during the 1960s, exemplifies the era’s approach to form and material. The sculptural ceramic shade features an organic, bulbous form that gracefully narrows into a slender neck. Its surface presents a rich palette of browns, ranging from deep chocolate to lighter, almost golden-beige tones, finished with a glossy glaze and areas of subtle satin-matte texture near the neck. The bottom of the shade is decorated with a bold perforated pattern of circular holes, highlighted by darker, nearly metallic brown accents, giving the lamp unique texture and visual depth. The lamp is suspended from a robust metal chain, measuring 120 cm in total height (adjustable), with a 40 cm diameter and weighing 6 kg. It is designed for a standard E27 bulb. The lamp is preserved in very good vintage condition, displaying uniform patina without visible mechanical damage, and retains its authentic character without major restoration.The form of this lamp is a voice from the 1960s—a period when Danish design embraced organic shapes and sculptural materials.
