ABOUT PRODUCTID 29617
This large ceiling light from the 1960s, designed by Helena Tynell for the German manufacturer Limburg, exemplifies mid-century modern lighting design. Crafted from hand-blown transparent glass with a distinctive bubble relief, the shade diffuses light gently and evenly. With a diameter of 32 cm and a height of 22 cm, the glass globe is suspended from an adjustable black cord, finished with a polished chrome cylindrical fixture. The metal accent provides a minimalistic, contemporary counterpoint to the organic glass texture, resulting in a balanced and harmonious form. This is the largest model produced by Limburg, and the original maker’s sticker confirms its authenticity. The condition is very good—there are no visible chips, cracks, or discoloration to the glass, and the metal retains its original shine. No signs of restoration or heavy use are apparent.
The lamp’s form evokes the spirit of the 1960s, an era defined by material innovation and the pursuit of atmospheric lighting. The bubbled glass serves both decorative and functional purposes: it gently filters the light, casting a soft lattice of reflections across walls and ceilings. This is the voice of an optimistic age, when design was intended not only to serve but also to surprise and inspire. The chromed top reflects light like a sheet of water, inviting a pause to appreciate the everyday beauty it creates.
This light would complement a mid-century modern living room, where it could be paired with furniture in teak or rosewood. It also fits well in an eclectic interior, serving as a focal point above a dining table or
