ABOUT PRODUCTID 29688
This large ceiling light, designed by Helena Tynell for Limburg in the 1960s, features a hand-blown glass shade in a warm, light amber-champagne tone. The shade is composed of numerous convex 'bubble' forms, creating a textured, transparent surface that beautifully diffuses light. The upper section consists of a vertically oriented, brushed brass cylinder with subtle patina, complementing the golden hues of the glass and emphasizing its vintage origin. The lamp is suspended from a discreet black cord, and the construction shows no visible external fasteners. With a total drop of 80 cm and a shade diameter of 30 cm, the proportions give the piece a sculptural presence. Condition: excellent, with only gentle patina on the brass and no damage to the glass. This piece echoes the optimistic, forward-looking spirit of 1960s Europe, when light and form intertwined in pursuit of modern harmony. The bubble glass, like air frozen in amber, scatters light into a soft, golden glow—recalling a time when design aimed to both delight and intrigue. The brass cylinder, bearing subtle signs of age, tells a story of accomplished craftsmanship—a detail that quietly complements the interplay of reflections and shadow. The lamp would suit a spacious living room or dining area, where its distinctive shade can become a focal point. It may be paired with other mid-century modern elements—smooth wood, textiles in ochre or grey, and minimalist graphic art. It could also serve as a counterpoint in contemporary, monochrome interiors, where its golden light and organic shape introduce softness and an artistic accent. The lamp is fitted with an E27 socket (max 100 W, LED compatible). Cable length can be adjusted upon request. Original manufacturer’s label is intact.
