ABOUT PRODUCTID 42120
This decorative centerpiece bowl in the Art Deco style, produced by the renowned German manufacturer WMF during the 1930s, exemplifies the high standard of European interwar design. Crafted from brass plated with silver, the bowl features an asymmetrical, triangular silhouette with softly rounded edges and a deeply contoured center. The entire piece rests on three spherical feet, lending the form a sense of lightness and emphasizing its modernist character. The metallic, mirror-like surface—free from additional ornamentation—accentuates the purity of the geometric shape and the quality of workmanship typical for late Art Deco. The underside bears the WMF maker’s mark and a dedication from 1939, confirming the object’s authenticity. The bowl is preserved in very good condition: the silver plating and polished surface are well maintained, with only minor, natural marks of use. This object tells the story of an era when modernity met refined simplicity. Its geometric lightness and minimalist lines evoke the world of interwar elegance, where every detail mattered. The silver, reflecting light, conjures images of salons nearly a century ago, where craftsmanship and innovation coexisted, and the form itself was a manifesto of modern decorative thinking. The bowl may be displayed on a sideboard in the living room, where its geometric structure enhances interiors inspired by modernism, mid-century modern, or eclectic collector’s spaces. It pairs well with other silver accents, minimalist ceramics, or glass, reinforcing the strict rhythm of its form. It would also suit settings with dark wood, where the contrast between cool silver and warm wood tones maximizes its decorative presence.Height: 7 cm. Diameter: 27 cm. Material: brass plated with silver. Marked with the WMF signature, dedication dated 1939. Condition: very good, polished surface, minimal signs of use.
