ABOUT PRODUCTID 2439
This Barovier & Toso centerpiece from the 1930s is a unique example of Italian artistic glassmaking, designed by Ercole Barovier and crafted in the renowned Murano workshop. The bowl, hand-formed from layered mosaic glass, stands out with its rich palette: shades of red, green, blue, yellow, white, and pink are embedded within a clear matrix. A distinctive feature is the use of silver dust inclusions, which create a shimmering, almost lace-like structure on the surface. The organic, softly undulating form with irregular, scalloped edges references Art Deco style while maintaining a distinct Murano character. The substantial thickness of the glass adds presence, while the polished finish enhances the depth and brilliance of the colors. The precision of handcrafting is evident in the seamless integration of colored fragments and the careful shaping of each edge. The bowl is in very good condition, with no visible chips, damage, or restoration, showing only minimal signs of age consistent with glass objects from this period
