ABOUT PRODUCTID 24345
This centerpiece bowl was created by the Mandruzatto glassworks on Murano around 1950, exemplifying the artistry of Italian crystal glass in the mid-century modern era. Crafted using Flavio Poli’s sommerso technique, it features layered colored glass: a saturated amber-red core blending into clear, smoky black tones and subtle blue accents at the base. The thick, heavy glass is shaped into an organic, dynamic form with upward-sweeping arms reminiscent of flames or ocean waves. A high-gloss finish and a polished, ground base emphasize the quality of workmanship, while the seamless color transitions reflect technical mastery and artistic finesse. The bowl is preserved in very good condition, showing no signs of wear, chips, or damage. This piece tells the story of 1950s Italian modernism, when Murano glassmakers were at the forefront of bold experiments with color and light. Its form and palette evoke the energy of the Mediterranean—capturing the sun’s radiance and the movement of the Venetian lagoon within glass. The dynamic arms suggest the pulse of an era where traditional craftsmanship met modern design. Both to the eye and touch, it reveals sculptural strength; its layered structure invites light to play across shifting perspectives. This bowl could serve as a focal point on a contemporary console, marble surface, or classic living room table. It is well-suited to be paired with minimalist objects—such as geometric ceramics or a simple lamp with brass details—to highlight its sculptural nature. It would fit beautifully in mid-century modern interiors, eclectic collector’s spaces, or contemporary settings with a neutral palette, allowing its colors and organic contours to fully resonate.Height: 19 cm, length: 47 cm, width: 20 cm.
