ABOUT PRODUCTID 16839
This decorative bowl in the Art Deco style originates from the Franz Welz factory in what was once Czechoslovakia, dated to the 1930s or 1940s. Its construction features hand-shaped mosaic glass—irregular patches of deep red, orange, light pink, and creamy white blend seamlessly with transparent sections. The organic spread of color creates a dynamic play of light and visual depth. The bowl has an expansive, shallow conical form (24 cm wide, 8 cm tall) and rests on three distinct black feet, each terminating in a spiral curl—a detail that draws the eye and alludes to the era's geometric inspiration. A lustrous, high-gloss finish heightens the glass’s vibrancy, while the balanced proportions echo the decorative ethos of Art Deco. The bowl is preserved in excellent condition, with a glossy surface showing no visible signs of use, chips, or restoration. This glass piece embodies the spirit of Central European modernism—its silhouette evokes the lively rhythm of the “Tango” craze of the 1930s, imbued with bold color and a sensuous interplay of contrasts. The hand-laid mosaic pattern appears almost animated by light, while the spiral feet tell the story of an era eager to blend decorative dynamism with geometric discipline. The piece resonates like a salon memory: a glass-written reminiscence of expressive nights and the bold, searching spirit of its time. The mosaic bowl may be displayed on a low console, sideboard, or as a centerpiece on a living room table—especially striking against plain, light textiles or solid ceramics that allow its color to shine. It can be paired with Art Deco-inspired elements—such as gilded accents, geometric candlesticks, or a black-framed mirror—but also serves as a vintage hallmark
