This chair, crafted in Spain in the 1950s, exemplifies a brutalist approach to design inspired by Mediterranean rural craftsmanship. It is made entirely from solid pine wood with a distinctive medium brown tone and a matte finish that accentuates the natural grain and texture of the material. The backrest and seat feature irregular, scalloped edges hand-carved with care, while a starburst motif carved into the backrest adds a decorative folk-art accent. The legs are thick, splayed, and profiled along their length, enhancing the chair’s robust, handcrafted character. All joints are constructed using traditional woodworking techniques, with no visible metal fasteners.
