The Thonet S32 chair, designed by Marcel Breuer and produced in Germany in 1996, is a contemporary edition of the iconic Bauhaus classic. Its construction is based on a cantilevered tubular steel frame with a satin finish that reflects light softly, without excessive gloss. The seat and backrest are crafted from natural, tightly woven rattan in a warm honey-brown shade, framed by light wood with a natural finish. The chair's balanced proportions – a rectangular seat and backrest, and gracefully curved cantilever base – are free from visible fasteners or joints, reflecting the minimalist, functional essence of Bauhaus design. The rattan has been replaced, ensuring durability and a refreshed appearance, while the wooden elements have received only subtle cosmetic restoration. The piece is preserved in excellent condition, with no signs of heavy use or damage. This form echoes the spirit of an era that favored pure lines and logical structure over ornamentation.
