ABOUT PRODUCTID 28177
The SE 42 chair, designed by Egon Eiermann for Wilde & Spieth in the 1950s, is a distinctive example of postwar German modernism. Its construction is based on a three-legged solid beech frame with a smooth, matte finish, seamlessly joined to a seat and backrest made of bent plywood veneered in walnut. The chair's characteristic organic profiles and ergonomically contoured elements lend it a sense of lightness and functionality—the curved legs and pronounced seat line provide comfort, while subtle metal fasteners on the backrest introduce a discreet industrial accent. The palette revolves around warm honey-brown tones, with subtle variations between the veneered sections and the beech frame. Balanced proportions and a minimalist aesthetic are hallmarks of this mid-century design. The chair is preserved in very good, restored condition—the surfaces are clean, the finish is even, and there are no visible damages or signs of intensive use.
The SE 42 tells the story of an era when furniture design was an ongoing dialogue between material and form
