This chamberstick, crafted by the Warsaw manufactory Fraget circa 1860, is a classic example of a portable candleholder made from brass plated with silver. Its construction rests on a square base with undulating, scalloped edges, subtly referencing late rococo ornamentation. The central candle holder features a bulbous silhouette and a ring of raised, rounded motifs, supported by a conical pedestal. A large, oval finger ring with a decorative medallion is affixed to one corner, making it easy to carry and underlining its utilitarian function. The color palette is a muted gold with areas of preserved silvering, a matte finish, and a gentle sheen where the silver remains. The surface displays authentic traces of time: patina, wear, and fine scratches revealing the original brass. The J. Fraget signature on the underside confirms its authenticity. The condition is described as very good for its age—there are no major damages, with the object's authenticity and period character fully preserved.This chamberstick quietly evokes the domestic evenings of late 19th-century Warsaw.
