This Stilnovo chandelier from the 1960s exemplifies Italian mid-century modern design with clear references to the space age aesthetic. The construction consists of two intersecting satin-finished brass rods extending symmetrically from a central, cubic brass core. At the ends of the rods are four spherical shades made of glossy, opaline white glass. The globes are fastened with black metal rings, introducing a bold, graphic contrast to the composition. Distinctively curved black lacquered metal arms connect the globes to the main structure, imparting a dynamic, orbital quality. The materials—brass, lacquered metal, and opaline glass—are of high quality, and the chandelier’s balanced proportions create an impression of lightness and spatial movement.
