This chandelier, designed by Paolo Venini and crafted in Italy during the 1970s, exemplifies monumental Italian modernism, where meticulous craftsmanship meets refined geometry. The structure is built on a sturdy, hexagonal metal frame, almost concealed by the dense arrangement of approximately 400 hand-cut Murano glass prisms. The dominant element is transparent glass, with smoky brown accents layered throughout, creating a sense of depth and cascading movement. The longest prisms define the outer contour, while shorter ones fill the core, giving the piece a sense of volume and sculptural presence. The metal frame, finished in a nearly black matte, serves as a subtle backdrop for the lustrous glass elements. One of the prisms is hand-signed and dated “Vivarini 74,” emphasizing the individuality of this piece.
