This chess set from 1965 is an example of Polish craftsmanship from the 1960s, where functionality meets minimalist form. The set includes a complete range of stained hardwood chess pieces and a box that also serves as a chessboard, secured with a simple metal latch. Characteristic of the era are the proportions—a low, rectangular case (4 × 34 × 16.5 cm) and a chessboard measuring 33.5 × 34 cm, with a classic pattern of squares in warm honey and darker brown tones. The semi-matte finish with a subtle sheen highlights the natural wood grain, while discreet alphanumeric markings (A-H, 1-8) along the edges add a practical touch.
