ABOUT PRODUCTID 5565
This chest of drawers from Northern Europe, dating to circa 1850, embodies the refined Biedermeier style of the mid-19th century. Its construction is based on a solid wooden body in a warm, honey-toned hue, showcasing prominent wood grain enhanced by a satin, semi-gloss finish. The three spacious drawers are adorned with a delicate, lighter inlay, emphasizing the geometric rhythm of the fronts and featuring small, black, keyhole-shaped handles, likely made of metal, centrally positioned on each drawer. Two ebonized columns run along the sides, providing a striking contrast to the lighter veneer and lending a neoclassical touch to the piece. The sturdy, square legs taper gently and are finished with ebonized feet, echoing the columns. The chest is in very good condition, having undergone professional restoration—its surface is smooth, free of visible scratches or dents, and the patina is even throughout. The form of this chest echoes the atmosphere of Northern European homes in the mid-1800s—a period when Biedermeier favored functionality, clarity of line, and restrained ornamentation. Its proportions and decorative columns tell a story of classical aspirations without excess,
