ABOUT PRODUCTID 20023
This child’s cup, crafted by WMF in Germany in the early 20th century, exemplifies utilitarian Art Nouveau design rendered in silver-plated brass. The form is tall and slender, with a softly flared rim, balancing visual lightness with the robust feel of its solid metallic structure. The primary hue is a warm, golden brass, subtly muted by its aged patina, while the surface retains a reflective sheen interrupted by gentle matte patches and minor tarnish—hallmarks of antique metalware. The exterior features intricate, hand-engraved floral motifs and a decorative ribbon with script, following the organic, fluid lines characteristic of Secessionist aesthetics. The handle, geometric and angular, forms a deliberate contrast to the delicacy of the engravings and is attached with rounded, visible joints. The overall finish remains glossy, with superficial scratches and slight discoloration visible upon close inspection. The condition is very good, showing only minor traces of use and no significant damage or repairs; the piece maintains its authentic period character. This object quietly evokes the early 20th century, an era when craft and the everyday merged at the intersection of art
