ABOUT PRODUCTID 15476
This chromolithograph depicting Saint Aloysius was produced before 1890 in Austria by St. Norbertus Verlag Wien and is presented in a richly carved, geometric frame in the spirit of Art Nouveau. The central composition shows the saint in a contemplative pose, holding a cross and lilies, with a halo crowning his head. The chromolithograph features a warm, muted color palette: creamy whites blend with matte black and gold-beige highlights, accented with subtle blush-pink outlines. The background is adorned with intricate Art Nouveau motifs in gold and olive tones, while the frame is made of wood finished with gold leaf—matte and glossy sections interspersed with darker, patinated recesses that emphasize the three-dimensional relief design. The construction is sturdy, with mitered corners and a metal hanger for classic wall display. Below the image, on the mount, remains a commemorative German inscription. The piece is preserved in very good condition: the matting shows only subtle traces of age in the form of minor discoloration and gentle abrasions, with no significant damage to the main elements.
This collector’s object evokes the ambiance of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when religious iconography intertwined with the decorative opulence
