This cigarette or cigar box, crafted at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries by the Plewkiewicz silver-plating workshop in Warsaw, exemplifies the highest standards of metalwork. The rectangular form stands on four small hemispherical feet, lending the piece balance and stability. The sides feature a subtle, hand-hammered texture, accentuating its artisanal character. The lid is decorated with a repoussé geometric rosette motif—symmetrical lines and small diamond accents—echoing the aesthetics of late historicism and early Art Nouveau. The overall color is a cool, silvery shade with a softly matte, satin finish typical of silver-plated brass, while the interior is lined with wood.
