This antique Victorian coal scuttle from the 19th century is an example of craftsmanship combining solid oak and embossed brass. With dimensions of 46 × 34 × 35 cm, the sturdy side panels subtly flare outwards, and the canted base tapers toward the front—a period-correct detail. The lid is dominated by a richly ornamented brass plate in a mellow gold tone, intricately decorated with foliate and scroll motifs typical of the late Victorian style. Additional brass details—ornate hinges, a floral-motif knob, and a turned handle showing authentic age patina—complete the composition. The construction features visible dovetail joints and the deep brown oak displays prominent grain beneath a light gloss.
