ABOUT PRODUCTID 41871
This coffee table from the 1960s, produced by Interiér Praha, stands out with its minimalist construction and understated elegance typical of Czechoslovak modernism. The tabletop is made of opaxite glass in a warm, light beige hue, featuring a matte surface that gently diffuses light and emphasizes the simplicity of the form. The edge, crafted from solid beechwood in a honey-toned semi-matte finish, frames the table top and creates a subtle contrast with the milky glass. Slender, tapered legs made of the same wood accentuate the airy proportions, while softly rounded corners and a rectangular outline highlight the functionality of the design. The construction is straightforward, with legs attached directly to the underside of the table without visible hardware or decoration, underscoring the honest use of materials and clarity of the era. The table is preserved in very good, restored condition— the wood displays only a delicate patina appropriate to its age, and the surface of the tabletop remains free from significant signs of wear.In its form, one can hear the voice of 1960s Czechoslovak design: restraint and practicality meet a refined sense of detail. The lightness of the construction and the bright palette evoke the atmosphere of modernist interiors, where function and aesthetics were balanced. The matte glass and smooth wood seem to tell a story of times when the home was meant to be a place of order and calm—a space where every object had its thoughtfully designed role. The table could be paired with a minimalist sofa in light fabrics or armchairs with geometric lines to highlight its modernist heritage. It would work well in a living room with vintage elements: a low sideboard on slender legs, a lamp with a metal frame, or a soft rug in muted tones. It is worth combining with glass or ceramic accessories to bring out the subtlety of the materials and the harmony of proportions characteristic of Central European mid-century modern.
