ABOUT PRODUCTID 9521
This Danish coffee table from the 1960s is constructed from teak wood and embodies the language of Scandinavian modernism. Its rectangular top, crafted with sculpted solid edges, is finished in a satin Danish oil that highlights the natural grain in a warm, medium brown hue with a subtle reddish undertone. Beneath the tabletop, two drawers with integrated carved wooden handles are accessible from both sides, emphasizing the table’s symmetry and practical intent. The lower shelf is newly hand-woven from natural rattan in a light beige shade, creating a distinct organic contrast against the darker teak. Four slender, tapered legs provide support, and all joints are precisely executed with no visible hardware. The table is in fully restored condition: the wood has been professionally cleaned and oiled, and the rattan shelf has been completely rewoven, showing no signs of wear or damage. This piece echoes the Danish 1960s, when utility and detail were inseparable, and every element—from the integrated handle to the rattan weave—was given purpose and quiet dignity. The rattan shelf seems to recall sunlit mornings, casting gentle shadows below, while the teak top invites a cup of coffee or a favorite book. The table’s form speaks of a time when craftsmanship and daily life were intertwined in understated harmony. The table may be introduced into a mid-century modern or minimalist interior, pairing well with low-profile upholstered sofas and geometric lamps. It would also suit an eclectic arrangement, alongside vintage ceramics, wool throws, or Murano glass vases, offering a calm, ordered foundation for collectible accents. Placing it on a neutral-toned rug or against light walls could further emphasize the depth of the teak and the texture of the rattan.
