The Vitra Eames Contract Coffee Table, designed by Charles and Ray Eames and produced in Switzerland at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, is a testament to timeless, rational design. Its round top, finished in natural American walnut veneer with subtle grain and a medium brown tone, is encircled by a thick, black plastic band that provides a bold visual accent and a smooth, rounded edge. The tabletop rests on a central black metal column, which transitions to a four-star polished chrome base—each leg terminating in a matte black foot. The interplay of glossy chrome, matte black, and warm wood veneer emphasizes the table’s modernist roots.
