The hidden bar coffee table by Fedam, created in Belgium in the 1980s, exemplifies a blend of material diversity and functionality characteristic of late modernism and the art deco revival movement. Its top is crafted from cool-toned, polished granite with subtle natural veining, framed by glossy black lacquered wood. A wide, gleaming brass trim accentuates the granite surface, reflecting light and adding a sense of opulence. The central feature is a concealed bar compartment, revealed by twisting a black knob; inside, a cylindrical brass column supports a mirrored glass base, heightening the perception of depth and luxury. The lower section is formed by smoked glass panels set in brass frames, lending the table an architectural lightness and an almost floating appearance. All materials—granite, brass, glass, lacquered wood—present polished, smooth textures. With dimensions of 130 cm wide, 80 cm deep, and 47 cm high, the table has a bold profile and offers generous functional space. It is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing minimal signs of use, with no visible damage or restoration marks.
This piece channels the spirit of the 1980s—a time when luxury and innovation intersected to impress and intrigue. The interplay of brass reflections and mirrored surfaces evokes scenes of evening gatherings, where every gesture—turning the knob, raising a glass—
