The Kashiki-setto confectionery set from Japan, crafted in the mid-20th century, is a collectible ensemble consisting of a cylindrical box and twelve matching plates designed for serving traditional wagashi sweets during tea ceremonies. The set is made from lightweight wood coated with a high-gloss burgundy lacquer, contrasted by the deep black interior of the box. The lid and plates are adorned with finely executed gold-painted motifs of birds, bamboo shoots, and foliage, rendered in delicate lines that echo the classical aesthetics of the Edo period, reinterpreted by postwar Japanese craftsmanship.
