ABOUT PRODUCTID 27708
The Continental String wall shelving system, designed by Nisse Strinning in the 1960s and produced in Sweden, consists of three vertical aluminum ladders measuring 186.5 cm in height and fourteen veneered wood shelves in a warm, medium-dark brown tone. Twelve shelves measure 78 cm wide by 20 cm deep, while two are 78 cm wide by 30 cm deep. The wood shelves feature a pronounced grain and a semi-matte finish, emphasizing their organic texture and gently diffusing light. The aluminum ladders and brackets have a matte, lightly brushed silver finish, supporting the composition in a clear, geometric rhythm. The modular construction allows for flexible arrangement of shelves at various heights, and the original manufacturer’s label with a list of international patents attests to its authenticity. Finishing details, subtle tonal variations in the wood, and precise joints exemplify the Scandinavian modernist balance of utility and aesthetic appeal. The system is in very good condition, with only minimal signs of age such as slight edge rubbing and faint scratches, with no significant damage or intervention. These String shelves reflect the spirit of 1960s Northern Europe—a time when function met clarity of form and confidence in material. The slender, minimalist outline speaks of freedom in organizing everyday life, while the aluminum ladders mark verticals like the sketch of modern architecture. The brown wood and cool aluminum engage in a calm
